In recent years, the Ukrainian road freight transportation market has been operating in a state of constant adaptation: routes are changing, supply chains are being restructured, and competition for high-quality clients is increasing. In these conditions, GRANDAR, founded in 2025, has focused on building its international road freight department not as a collection of one-off deals, but as a managed business system.
Starting with a focus on systematic growth
The division is headed by Oleksandr Toporkov, a company partner responsible for road transportation. From the very first months, the department was built around processes rather than individual deal: sales and logistics regulations, transparent reporting, and a clear distribution of roles within the team.
«Our goal is not to be the best salesperson, but to build a system that scales profitability on its own, without manually managing every deal», - explains the head of the division.
Within the first three months of operation, the department achieved sustainable operational profitability—a notable result in the logistics industry, where margins are traditionally under pressure.
A lean team with clearly defined roles
Focusing on a lean, highly professional team with clear, well-established processes is part of the company’s strategy: every new employee is expected not only to handle operational tasks but also to contribute to the division's profitability.
The department's geographical coverage includes key trade corridors for Ukrainian businesses: Ukraine–EU, Central Asia, and the Caucasus.
A new service: regular LTL-Transportation
One of the key development areas is the launch of a regular LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) service on the Ukraine–Europe–Ukraine routes. Unlike one-time consolidated shipments, GRANDAR is building a true service model with a clear schedule, fixed routes, and predictable pricing—features that businesses shipping smaller cargo volumes often lack.
A digital asset as part of the strategy
Alongside operational growth, GRANDAR is developing its own digital solution for the road freight market—a platform on which the company acts as the sole transaction operator. This initiative is part of a broader strategy: not only to increase transportation volumes but also to create a technological asset capable of becoming an independent source of revenue for the company in the future.
Where the division is heading
The company openly acknowledges its ambitions: to transform the division from a compact team into a full-fledged business unit with an expanded workforce and the implementation of automation tools, including artificial intelligence elements for client interaction. In the longer term, the goal is for the division to become one of the company's key profit centers and to replicate its proven business model across new markets and transportation corridors.
«We are building this division to remain manageable and profitable regardless of the factors affecting the freight transportation market—that is the only way to achieve sustainable, systematic growth», - concludes Oleksandr Toporkov.
